Everyone is expected to be highly productive ... but they do not all need to be turning out the same product. - Mel Levine
In the spirit of new beginnings, the rejuvenation of Spring time, feeling energized and productive, it is important to not sell the uniqueness of your productivity short.
Of course, there is something to be said for following in the footsteps of those you admire and respect but you need not follow a well trodden path to achieve your goals. As this quote from Mel Levine implies, life is not a factory unless you make it a factory. You can absolutely live rank and file, or you can dare to put your energy toward something special, something that is yours, that ignites your inner most passion, distinguishing you from the mundane assembly line. It could be something you simply enjoy, like a hobby or cause, or it could be a life altering career move.
'Unique' is a buzz word that is really not as important as being passionate. It is important that we all have an interest that we claim as being our own, something that we look forward to outside of our obligations and responsibilities. That interest may not distinguish you from a group of people, but as long as the pursuit of that interest is where you find yourself happiest and most productive, then you, my friend, are golden.
Keep your health, safety and mental clarity in mind. There are more than enough influences that lay disguised as worth while experiences but ultimately lead to self destruction.
Whether you are already avidly pursuing your interests or are pondering where your interests are rooted, never let other people discourage you from putting your energy toward something productive that makes you happy. Friends and relatives can be some of the best cheerleaders but they can also be some of the most discouraging forces; turning a positive into a negative before you even have an opportunity to set your ideas into motion.
Your station in life does not matter. It is never too late to plant a new seed.
Again, it is Spring. Let your energy blossom into something great. I promise, you will be grateful you did.
